Personality Type
Its logical – using tests will improve the success of your training and development programmes.
The Ocean Personality Type Questionnaire
based on Jung psychological/personality Type
The Ocean Personality Type Questionnaire is very similar to, and correlates well with, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – MBTI. The MBTI is the world’s most widely used personality type questionnaire.
‘Personality Type’ – a widely used model for describing personality and behaviour based on the work of Swiss psychologist – Carl Jung.
Behavioural Preferences
– not Traits – not Skills
Most psychometric tests and questionnaires measure specific personality traits, aptitudes and skills. ‘Type’ questionnaires measure ‘behavioural preferences’ – a person’s preferences for dealing with life, work, relationships, processing information, making decisions, handling problems, etc.
With Type questionnaires there are no right or wrong answers. No ‘preference’ or ‘type’ is any more important or valuable than another.
The OPTQ, like other type questionnaires, does not measure skills. It identifies behavioural preferences that can, in turn, be related to skills, strengths or potential strengths. It can be used to identify areas where training, development and experience could help people maximise their strengths.
One of the major values of Type questionnaires is that they help and encourage people to be aware of and appreciate the differences between their preferred style and other peoples’ preferred style. Vive la différence!
